COACH NOTES:

Recap of our busy month of December Meets:

Lancaster Lightning Holiday Classic - PAY sent over 60 swimmers to compete in a midseason invitational the week of December 9th and 10th. This was hosted by the Lancaster YMCA (LANY) at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, PA. Of all the Prelim/Final invitationals I have coached over the years, few have produced more “2nd swims” than this meet did! We finished in 1st in the 1st year that LANY ran this meet. I would be eager to help them grow this meet in the coming years.

Ridley RAYS Winter Classic - PAY sent over 120 swimmers to compete in a midseason invitational the weekend of December 16th, 17th, and 18th. This was hosted by the Ridley RAYS at Swarthmore College. Of all visiting teams, PAY finished 1st in the team score for this meet. FULL PDF RESULTS

OTHER NEWS:

THANK YOUs- Thank you to all the coaches, swimmers and families that helped with our season of giving by participating in our YMCA Angel Giving Tree.  The senior practice groups and adult volunteers helped with wrapping gifts for 80 local children in need.  Over the years- including this year, PAY swim team and the Y community have collected and wrapped over 2400 gifts for local children.

Thank you to all our coaches who guided our team over winter break, helping our swimmers get ready for January and the upcoming championship season!  Special shout out to the dryland coaches for organizing the amazing 2023 Christmas Eve Meetball Extravaganza. The swimmers had so much fun competing and bonding out of the pool!

And, thank you to all the adults who volunteered at the December swim meets.  Our team cannot host or attend swim meets without our adult volunteers lending their hands. Volunteers are still needed for this weekend’s January meets- including the meets at Reading this Saturday and our annual home masters meet this Sunday (and if you are attending Sunday’s Hot Cocoa mini-meet, our coaches will let you know if BCLY needs volunteers).

Annual Winter Freeze Bill Heebner Memorial US Masters Meet on Sunday, January 7th!  PAY Teens and Families will be needed to help us host this Masters Meet for swimmers aged 19 to 99!! Swimmers come from up and down the east coast to compete in our Myrin Pool.  Please help us by volunteering during the meet to support adult swimmers trying to achieve short course meters World Records. Always an exciting and uplifting event and their entry fees are an easy fundraiser for our PAY swim team. More info and volunteer signups are in Team Unify under the event. Thanks in advance! Please email Kate Baganski if you have any questions- the more volunteers, the merrier and we can rotate around etc.  Snacks/food and water will be provided for the volunteers.

SAVE THE DATE for our PAY END-OF-SEASON AWARDS DINNER at Rivercrest Golf Club- Wednesday, May 8th for all PAY families.  More details will follow within a few months.
