COACH NOTES:
Practices
I am thrilled with the turnout, effort, and energy that all of our groups continue to have in week 3 of our season! Nat/Senior level swimmers have now added in a morning workout each week, and many of our training groups have hit the ground running (figuratively and literally!) with dryland starting this week as well.
While the early season is still focused on building good fundamentals and the building blocks for what we want to accomplish later in the winter, the kids are still being pushed and getting better on a daily basis in all groups.
USA Swimming
For our USA registered swimmers, I can still add last minute entries to our meet at York. However, you have to let me know by 9:00pm tonight (9/20/2023). I will be submitting our final entries to York first thing in the morning on Thursday.
Team Dual Meets
For our entire team at large, you will notice I added a few meets to our calendar. We will be hosting our friend to the north, the Upper Perkiomen YMCA, for a home dual meet on Saturday November 4. We now have the lucky number four dual meets on our winter season calendar that I was hoping for. ALL TEAM MEMBERS should be showing out for our team dual meets.
October Invitational Meet @ West Chester Y - the 1st Annual Monster Mash
For our invitational meet at West Chester in October, we are pretty much at a point where I have to close entries to any swimmers that are not already on our tentative entry list. If you aren’t already signed up, I can see what I can do, but I make no guarantees of added entries at this point. For those that are on our tentative entries, entries are NOT final yet. I can and likely will pare down entries for some swimmers a bit, in order to lighten event loads and help our hosts at West Chester with meet timelines for various sessions of the weekend. I can tell you now that we have 165(!!) swimmers across all age groups and levels entered. This is the largest turnout we have had for an invitational meet since I have been involved with our team here at PAY. It is a testament to the excitement and investment that we are building together from top to bottom as a team.
November Invitational Meet - The York Y’s Tournament of Champions
We have an invitational meet at the York YMCA in the month of November known as the Tournament of Champions. Like our October meet at West Chester, it is open to ALL TEAM MEMBERS as a Closed YMCA Invitational. The meet also has USA approval, meaning that those swimmers that are USA registered will have their times submitted to the USA SWIM database for future qualifying meets and USA swimming milestone recognitions. We annually send a large contingent to this meet, and this is a point in the season where kids are hitting a groove and taking things to a new level in their best events. It sets the tone for our bigger Prelim/Final meets that we have in the months of December and January.
