Happy Summer! Here is what you need to know for this week. There is a lot of news so please scroll down to the end.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:
Our Typical Summer Practice Schedule is linked
ONE IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: Junior 1’s long course practice at Upper Merion will run from 8:15-9:30pm on Wednesday nights, NOT 9:45pm. This was an error on my part when publishing the schedule.
PLEASE NOTE: Aside from Senior Prep swimmers on Tuesdays and National/PreNational/Senior swimmers on Tuesdays & Thursdays, we should not have swimmers doubling up on PAY practices AM and PM without the prior approval of the coaching staff. We are offering these different time options for families to have more flexibility with scheduling and logistics, not for swimmers to be doubling up more than what is developmentally appropriate for them.
**Senior level swimmers: please utilize the doubles, especially now that school is out!! There is a reason we are offering them for your groups, to push you all to be the best swimmers you can be by the close of the summer season.**
Practice Schedule Adjustments for the Weekend of 6/23 to 6/25
For Thursday 6/22, the scheduled double for the National/PreNational/Senior group is optional for those looking to feel a little more rested going into the Cure for Cam meet weekend. For those in Nat/Senior group that are only attending one practice on this day, plan to attend the PM practice. Conversely, Senior Prep swimmers should try to attend tomorrow’s AM practice so that we have adequate numbers and spacing for each practice.
For Friday 6/23, we are going to operate on the following modified practice schedule due to the Cure for Cam LC Invitational. These hour time blocks will function as a wakeup swim for the meet events later that day, and are optional for those competing in the meet later that day:
National/PreNational/Senior - 8:30-9:30am (mobility/flexibility-based dryland with Coach Miller afterward 9:45-10:15am- optional if you are swimming in the Friday session of the meet)
Senior Prep 1 & 2 - 8:30-9:30am (mobility/flexibility based dryland afterward 9:45-10:15am)
Junior 1 & Junior 2 - 9:30-10:30am (dryland beforehand from 8:45-9:15am)
***We WILL NOT hold any practices on Saturday 6/24 or Sunday 6/25, due to the Cure for Cam LC Invitational.***
SY/HAC Long Course Classic @ Bucknell - Meet Recap
Over 50 PAY swimmers made the trip to Bucknell University the weekend of June 8-11. PAY finished 2nd overall in the team scoring out of 25 teams. Congratulations to all and special shout outs to the following swimmers:

If you have questions about long course swimming/competition, please ask! You don’t have to be “elite” to be a part of these types of competitions 🙂

7/6-7/9 Middle Atlantic LC Senior Champs at Keystone Aquatic Center in Carlisle, PA
This is a qualifying meet for our Senior level swimmers. If you are qualified, please plan on attending. This meet has been a great springboard for our swimmers into the rest of the summer championship season. Signups are DUE NOW.
7/14-7/16 Middle Atlantic LC Silver Champs at GCIT in Sewell, NJ
This meet is our LC Champs meet for all USA registered swimmers that did not qualify for Senior Champs or Junior Champs. It is more local than in year’s past, so I am hopeful this will help us turnout for this meet. It is a great LC Prelim/Final experience for our swimmers of all ages and levels. Signups are due 6/26
7/20-7/23 Middle Atlantic LC Junior Champs at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA
This is a qualifying meet for our 14 and Under swimmers. Those who are qualified for both this meet and LC Y Nationals should plan on talking to me about plans for the summer. Signups are due 6/26
7/25-7/29 YMCA LC Nationals in Greensboro, NC
More information to come for our LC Y National Qualifiers. Please refer to the event page for qualifying times.
June/July YMCA Summer Series Meet Schedule & Dates
ALL PAY swimmers who are signed up for the summer months (June and July) are welcome to participate in our “Summer Series” dual/tri meets with other locals YMCA’s. These are local, fun, low key meet opportunities for our swimmers during the summer months.
In particular, Coach Dave and all the coaches highly encourage maximal turnout at our final home/hosted meet on Saturday July 1. Signup Links are below:

Tuesday 7/11 - AWAY vs. BYNS & UMLY

Parent Swim Team Questions- if you are new and have questions about swim team, email Kate Baganski (kbaganski@verizon.net) and she or someone else will get back to you and/or meet you to go over your questions.
Heads Up-Signup to Reserve Personalized Swim Caps for the Fall/Winter Season- Hard to believe we are thinking of autumn but our TYR vendor wants to begin the order for personalized bathing caps for the fall/winter season. By the end of this week, all active accounts will receive an email to tentative commit/decline for the fall season merely to get on a list for personalized PAY bathing caps. We’ll be going back to Carolina (light) blue bathing caps with last names (2/swimmer). If your family changes your mind about swimming by the swim team signups in August then we’ll cancel your cap order. Thanks in advance for the fast turnaround time for responses.
Used Apparel, Bathing Suits, and Equipment- Do you have any used or outgrown swim equipment, bathing suits or apparel that you can donate to the PAY Team for our Used Apparel Sale? If so, please place in a bag and hand to a coach, to Kate (or Patrick) Baganski, to Claudia Zinn or to Kelly Miller by June 30 so that our volunteers can go through and organize the donations. PAY parents will then be selling the used items for a few dollars to support our summer swim team at our final home PAY Swim Meet on Saturday, July 1st.
Final home summer swim meet will be on July 1st (am)- The volunteer signups for this home meet will be posted under Job Signup in the Team Unify event by this weekend and an email will be sent out. We will need many volunteers to make this meet run efficiently so please don't be shy. Most jobs need no experience. ***We'll also have a separate posting for snack bar donations. Our team will be overseeing a modest snack stand until 11:00am then TD Alfredo’s will be opening the Y’s official restaurant/pizza station for the duration of the meet. Stay tuned!! (PS- we’ll have coffee and sodas at our snack bar for this meet for all of you who asked about caffeinated beverages).
SWIMMERS’ YELLOW TSHIRTS- All PAY swimmers training or competing this summer get a yellow shirt. Volunteers continue to distribute the tshirts this week. If you joined the swim team the last week of May or in June and you didn’t yet provide your name to the volunteers handing out tshirts, please reply. We’ll be placing a second order for the late additions to our team.

Our branch and association partner, Kinetic Physical Therapy, serves the needs of a wide variety of YMCA members, right at our branch in Phoenixville!.
