COACH NOTES:
PRACTICE SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:
Normal Spring Practice Schedule (<-- link) will be utilized through Sunday 6/11. We will begin our Summer practice schedule on Monday 6/12. Updates to the Summer practice schedule should be released early next week.
PLEASE NOTE: WE MAY NEED TO PIVOT WITH OUR PRACTICE SCHEDULE NEXT WEEKEND (June 9-11) WITH THE BUCKNELL LC MEET TAKING PLACE THAT WEEKEND. PLEASE STAY TUNED
Spring Clinic/Conditioning Reflection:
Thank you to ALL of our families who have participated in the Spring Clinic & Conditioning season here at PAY. I can confirm that this is the largest contingent of swimmers we have EVER had on this team for the Spring. This time of the year is always a springboard for success for the following Fall/Winter season. We are set up to be the biggest and strongest we have ever been for the 2023-2024 Fall/Winter season as well as a result, and it’s because of the gains our new and returning swimmers alike all made these past few months. Be on the lookout for an event RSVP for the Fall season coming later this summer. Swimmers taking a break for the summer may still attend practice for this coming week.
Summer Season:
Summer season has arrived! We will officially begin our full summer schedule on Monday June 12. If you know you are not planning on participating in our summer season (June 12 onward), please make sure to let me (Coach Dave) know so that I do not include your swimmer on the registration lists for our summer months of June and July.
***A preliminary meet email was sent out to all attendees of the LC Classic at Bucknell for next weekend. Please let me (Coach Dave) know if you have any questions about this weekend!
RAYS LC Stakes Invite Recap
Thank you to our gracious hosts, the Ridley YMCA Stingrays, who put together a well run and fast long course invitational at GCIT two weeks ago. We are grateful for the relationship our teams have with each other as fellow YMCA swim teams!
PAY had nearly 70 swimmers compete in this meet. For many of our swimmers, it was either their first EVER long course meet or their very first meet with PAY.

June/July Long Course Meet Schedule & Dates
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE LOOK TO GET SIGNUPS IN FOR THESE MAY/JUNE LONG COURSE MEETS ASAP.
If you have questions about long course swimming/competition, please ask! You don’t have to be “elite” to be a part of these types of competitions 🙂

7/6-7/9 Middle Atlantic LC Senior Champs at Keystone Aquatic Center in Carlisle, PA
This is a qualifying meet for our Senior level swimmers. If you are qualified, please plan on attending. This meet has been a great springboard for our swimmers into the rest of the summer championship season.
7/14-7/16 Middle Atlantic LC Silver Champs at GCIT in Sewell, NJ
This meet is our LC Champs meet for all USA registered swimmers that did not qualify for Senior Champs or Junior Champs. It is more local than in year’s past, so I am hopeful this will help us turnout for this meet. It is a great LC Prelim/Final experience for our swimmers of all ages and levels.
7/20-7/23 Middle Atlantic LC Junior Champs at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA
This is a qualifying meet for our 14 and Under swimmers. Those who are qualified for both this meet and LC Y Nationals should plan on talking to me about plans for the summer.
7/25-7/29 YMCA LC Nationals in Greensboro, NC
More information to come for our LC Y National Qualifiers. Please refer to the event page for qualifying times.
June/July YMCA Summer Series Meet Schedule & Dates
ALL PAY swimmers who are signed up for the summer months (June and July) are welcome to participate in our “Summer Series” dual/tri meets with other locals YMCA’s. These are local, fun, low key meet opportunities for our swimmers during the summer months.
In particular, Coach Dave and all the coaches highly encourage maximal turnout at our two home/hosted meets on Saturday June 17 and Saturday July 1. Signup Links are below:

OTHER NEWS:
FOUND: A blue Wildwood sweatshirt was found at the banquet last week. If the sweatshirt belongs to your family, please email Kate Baganski.
Parent Swim Team Question and Answer Sessions in the YMCA lobby- Monday, June 5th 6-7:30pm and Monday, June 12th 6-7:30pm. Have your non-coach questions answered by veteran PAY swim team parents! Stop in anytime during those time frames. (HINT HINT- if you are a veteran PAY parent, we can use your help in the lobby these nights to answer questions)
Used Apparel, Bathing Suits, and Equipment- Do you have any used or outgrown swim equipment, bathing suits or apparel that you can donate to the PAY Team for our Used Apparel Sale? If so, please place in a bag and hand to a coach, to Kate (or Patrick) Baganski, to Claudia Zinn or to Kelly Miller by June 12th so that our volunteers can go through and organize the donations. PAY parents will then be selling the used items for a few dollars to support our summer swim team at our first home PAY Swim Meet on Saturday, June 17th.
Our first home morning swim meet is coming up on June 17th! The volunteer signups for this home meet will be posted under Job Signup in the Team Unify event by next week and an email will be sent out. We will need over 60 volunteers to make this meet run efficiently so please don't be shy. Most jobs need no experience. ***We'll also have a separate posting for snack bar donations. Our team will be overseeing a modest snack stand until 10:30am then TD Alfredo’s will be opening the Y’s official restaurant/pizza station at 11am for the duration of the meet. Stay tuned!!
PICTURES from Chambersburg Meet at Keystone Aquatic Club May 13-14:Leo’s dad, Mr. Cuevas, was kind enough to use his professional camera to take a lot of photos of swimmer starts and races during the May 13-14 meet at Keystone Aquatic Club. He has created a gallery in Apple with the following link: PAY photos to share PAY thanks you, Mr. Cuevas!! These photos may be a good tool for swimmers and coaches as they continue to work on starts and turns at each practice.

All orders will be delivered to the Y in early July. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask Kelly Miller or Claudia Zinn. SWIMMER AND COACH SUMMER TSHIRTS will be distributed in June once they arrive. At that time we will be looking for parent volunteers from each practice group to help with the tshirt distributions. If interested, please email Kelly Miller or Claudia Zinn.
