8 NEW Winterfest Qualifiers: Austin Adair (11-12 Boys 50 Fly);  Elizaveta Akimova (9-10 Girls 50 Breast, 50 Back, 100 Breast, 100 IM); Ella Bice (15-21 Girls 50 Free, 100 Free); Jalen Bowman (13-14 Boys 50 Free, 100 Breast); Paige Lindenmuth (13-14 Girls 50 Free, 100 Breast); Weston Gale (13-14 Boys 100 Back, 100 Breast); Stacey Jiang (11-12 Girls 50 Free); Grady Reiman (15-21 Boys 100 Breast, 200 Breast)

1 NEW YMCA SC National Qualifier: Maris Sadowski (50 Free and 100 Back)

Swimmers of the Meet - LAC Holiday Cup @ F&M

Girls: Maris Sadowski

Maris’ first ever YMCA National short course cuts (in a short course format) came on the last night of finals at F&M. Hitting that first cut so often helps so many things fall into place, and we couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishment.

Boys: Derek Wan

Derek’s 50 Free was his first ever “AAAA” time, which means he is among the top 2% NATIONALLY in the 50 Free amongst 11-12 year old boys. He also got stronger as the weekend went on, having his best performances on the last night of finals at F&M.

Swimmers of the Meet - RAYS Winter Classic @ Swarthmore

Girls: Caroline Moore

Caroline dropped the most time of ANY swimmer throughout this entrie weekend. Not only that, but she can call herself a Winterfest qualifier now as a young 13 year old in our Senior Prep group. This time two years ago, Caroline was swimming in our Novice 1 group. She encapsulates perfectly how quickly things can come together for a swimmer if they truly embrace the sport and put their heart and soul into their swimming.

Grace Kalbach - Swarthmore Shout Out

A special shout out goes to Grace Kalbach, who got to swim (and drop time!) in multiple final heats as the first alternate at the ready! We admire your passion and attention to detail Grace!

Boys: Logan Seiss

Logan is a fairly new addition to our team who has done nothing but rack up Winterfest cut after Winterfest cut since joining PAY. He now holds cuts in the 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. His strokes are silky smooth, and he is a perfect model for what one can achieve with PAY if given the opportunities to race.

THANK YOUs:

Thank you again to all our PAY volunteers who worked at the F&M or Swarthmore meets.  We appreciate you!!  We couldn’t attend or host meets without our volunteers.

NEW SCOREBOARD YMCA GIVING CAMPAIGN Just in time for end-of-year donations, the YMCA’s corporate campaign is underway to raise $50,000 for the purchase and installation of a new Daktronics scoreboard along with six new associated touchpads, console, wiring, etc! With a little more help, we are definitely going to have a new scoreboard up and running by our next season.  Hurray!  As of today, the YMCA has received $31,000 in pledges or donations from corporations or families for this Scoreboard Initiative and they have a few more corporate “asks” in their sightsLisa McGregor, Senior Team Leader, and Hattie Franz, Director of Development, are the contacts for obtaining corporate sponsors or private donations to complete this giving challenge. This campaign will begin this month and continue through until “Scoreboard” funds are achieved.  (Any funds collected beyond the cost of the scoreboard will be earmarked for future swim team or Myrin pool equipment needs.)  Our PAY Swim Team has a goal of $10,000 to help the YMCA with this purchase and with company matches we think we can reach that goal over the next few months. PAY has raised $5,500 from our famillies so far for the scoreboard  Here are further details:

  1. The Scoreboard Pledge form is on our team’s Team Unify homepage and attached in this link PHX_Pledgecard (teamunify.com)Checks, cash, or credit card is an option for donations.  This form and donations should be brought to the Phoenixville YMCA front desk ATTN: Lisa McGregor so that the donations can be brought to the safe each day and saved in the restricted account. Questions?  Lisa’s email is: lmcgregor@philaymca.org .For any person, family or entity that donates $1500 or above, the YMCA places a silver triangle listing your name on their donor wall (currently in the lobby). The donor triangles remain on the wall for 12 months.

  2. Corporate Sponsorships- for $5000 or more, there are a few spots on the scoreboard where the corporate sponsor can be advertised.  First come, first served due to limited advertising space on the scoreboard.

  3. Company Matching Gifts- The EIN # associated with this Scoreboard Initiative is EIN#23-1243965 and if there is a space for a comment you can type in Phoenixville YMCA Scoreboard.  You can email Hattie Franz to get confirmation that the company match donation came through.  Her email is Heather Franz at Heather.Franz@philaymca.org
